animalestique, c'est magnifique

in order to create an outfit, i begin with a muse -- a typical preliminary step for most artists. my muse for today's outfit was this awesome black cat shirt that i got from an awesome friend of mine [sara mccall--find her on facebook...she's hawt]. the reason that i bartered this tee for one of my favorite sweaters is because good animal face-tees are hard to find. normally, such tees constrict the animal's visage to the front and center of the shirt, which is displeasing because then the theme of the shirt seems underdeveloped. however, with the production of my specific tee featured below, the company actually capitalizes on the animalistic theme by expansing the visage throughout the surface area of the shirt, captivating onlookers with its overwhelming effect. so, upon finding myself in a reverie ignited by this muse, i figured i take this primitive theme further by adding a jungle print snapback accompanied by a pair of tights expressing a moonlit sky.

this is the result:

hat; urban outfitters. cat shirt; fab. tunic; american apparel. jacket; urban outfitters. gloves; urban outfitters. tights; urban outfitters. boots; docs. necklace; california vintage.

mickey mouse suspenders; vintage. socks; nora's shoe store. sweater; brandy la. blouse; vintage. pants; vintage.
so when chiara and i made our voyage to the melancholic London, we made a stop to the store we cant stop ranting about......UNDERGROUND, the wonderful store that breeds these even more wonderful shoes. to all of the shawties reading this post: i know how it feels to be two inches away from being dubbed a legal midgit and constantly having to strain my neck to talk to all dem tall bitchez. so take my advice and invest in a pair of these shoes!!! theyre fashionable, they're platforms, and they increase your swagg by an inch and a half!
his name is alonzo [or alfonso when he's feeling promiscuous]. he's our house rat! now, where i live, panarchy, may look like it births rats from within its decrepit timber walls [and occasionally it does]... BUT, you will be happy to hear that this speacial rat didnt make its grandiose debut while scrapping through our week old rubbish, but rather while in his loving owner's arms after being adopted from his animal shelter... WE RESCUED A RAT! i know i know, it sounds like a totally alternative, hipster move because, i mean, who rescues rats.....right?!?! although that was not our motive, alonzo is quite the hipster himself. reason #1: he raves. reason #2: he raves with a cape on [pictured below]. reason #3: he's a damn young money ca$h money STUNNNAAHH! alonzo's honorable qualities dont end there....hes gone through some rough times. our little fellow is blind in his right and is paraplegic. so we have got to give this guy a big round of applause for his courageous and swagg-tastic nature.
alonzo with his bootiful owner Shelby.

our friend, liz

here's our friend lizzy j. she's an avid thrifter currently studying the ways of fashion merchandising and designing at SCAD. her style is forgivingly spasmodic, intermixing layers of polar patterns and textures with modest bursts of contrasting colors to create a bewildering yet successful array. every now and then i attempt to consolidate garments possessing opposing patterns but its hard for me to do so without feeling as though i am threatening the outfit's integrity. there is a point at which pattern combination succumbs to incomprehensibility and one is left with the exterior assumption of dissociative personality disorder. so then i ask myself: how does one tastefully integrate seemingly incompatible patterns without looking stylistically naive?
my conclusion: confidence.

wear whatever the f**k you want and as long as you reek of confidence your pattern-infested outfit is going to look credible. obviously if you don't feel confident in what you're wearing then there must be some sort of constructive disparity somewhere in your creation. however, once that is fixed and your outfit personally feels functional you'll naturally gain a sense of confidence and rock that sh*t, hard.

[everything liz is wearing is thrifted so the origins of her pieces are unknown]

most people are other people. their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation. oscar wilde

dont seek external affirmation on personal decisions. it mutes the idiosyncrasies that mark your existence, causing your self-confidence to evaporate from the seemingly unfathomable heat of controversy. you are but the product of your own thoughts. and your thoughts create your reality. so if you like what you wear and you think its a brilliant collaboration of colors/patterns/textures, then that's the feedback your reality with give you. a fantastical imagination goes a long way..
