art may be perceived as persons escaping functional fixedness: taking a form of matter (or even a concept) and exhibiting it or utilizing it in a way that does not conform to its primary function, consequently resulting in a desirable and beneficial mechanism. in some cases, artists transcend ordinary thought and provide humans with a means of self-medication by visually instilling them with sentiments of interconnectedness; a reassurance that they are not alone, that the anxiety they may feel, causing them to assuredly believe that they are hopelessly stranded within their thoughts, is not exclusive to their individual minds, but universally shared by others. with this realization humans recognize that they have allies in their ongoing internal battle, lessening their despondency and yielding a liberating awareness.
